Tips For Memorizing Notes On A Staff


When learning about the different notes on a staff for guitar theory, it can boring and difficult to remember.

For this lesson we have tried to make it simple and easy by adding a little saying to help you remember where things go.


The notes on the staff for treble clef are as follows:



The notes on the staff for bass clef are as follows:


Here are some easier ways to remember the above. They may sound a bit silly at first but it really will help you as you move into more complex theory.

Tip 1: You may notice that bass clef is the same as treble, just moved down one whole space. If you have already learned treble this might be the easier way to remember the notes for bass clef.

Tip 2: There are two helpful sayings you can apply to the above. There is two for treble and two for bass.

For treble clef use the acronym FACE followed by Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge.

To remember the notes on the spaces on treble clef, use the acronym FACE.

If you play bass, to remember the notes on the spaces, try the phrase All Cows Eat Grass.

To remember the notes on the lines, remember the phrase Golf Balls Don't Fly Away.

You don't have to use these as you may think up another phrase or saying that you might find easier to remember.
